Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott held a Shorewood Women's Cruiser Bike Attorney Shorewood Women's Cruiser Bike Attorney press conference Monday to announce that he had met with attorneys general from Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida to talk about how to protect their states’ threatened natural resources, coastal businesses and taxpayer money after the explosion and British Petroleum oil spill in the Gulf.

The oil spill “is expanding from a significant ecological” disaster to a “tremendous economic” one, Abbott said.

He said he would make sure BP is “living up to its commitment to pay all legitimate claims arising out of the oil spill.”

Right now, he said, there is not yet measurable impact on Texas.

He said authorities would monitor the Texas coast for oil tarballs washed up from the BP spill.
